Danielle Colby                        Dogwood Days in Horseshoe Bend:
Sure to be the Best Entertainment Pick of 2013!

Danielle Colby from History's American Pickers Dogwood Days Festival in Horseshoe Bend The Dogwood Days Committee is in the process of finalizing the details for a visit from Danielle Colby of History's American Pickers! She will be autographing photos and "picking" at the Horseshoe Bend Area Chamber of Commerce's Dogwood Days Festival on Saturday, May 11, 2013!

While the guys are out picking, Danielle holds down the fort at Antique Archaeology, Mike's store and base of operations. She spends her time talking to buyers, packing up shipments and keeping Mike and Frank in line, while they keep her in stitches with their antics and jokes. The guys like to say she's the glue that holds them all together. A mother of two, Danielle is always working on a new creative project, whether it's painting, designing clothes or selling vintage-inspired gifts online. On May 11, you can spend a pleasant Saturday strolling amongst the vendors, sorting through a tonnage of unique items and breaking the ice on the best deal. There will be something for everyone from new products to collector's items to antiques for sale at this year's extravaganza.

Of course, there will be the traditional Dogwood Days Three-Person Scramble at the Golf Course on Turkey Mountain, food vendors, kiddie games and attractions, the plant and outdoor exhibit and sale, and that great entertainment in the gazebo! A comittee has been formed to coordinate the return of the annual car and motorcycle show which will be dubbed "Wheels in the Bend."

Raffle: Chamber volunteer, Peggy Clarke, has generously donated a set of dishes for our raffle this year - a service for four set of Buffalo China in a Dogwood pattern! The raffle tickets can be purchased at the chamber office for $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. Thank you Peggy!

Dog Pageant, Car Show, Mens Beauty Contest: Sign up sheets are at the chamber office if you are interested in any of these events, the more the merrier!

Freestyling in the Ozarks this spring? Why not come out the week before for the Horseshoe Bend Airport Open House! On Saturday, May 4, the airport, located just off Bend Drive (Hwy 289) will offer live music, BBQ, an aircraft-car-motorcycle show and tours of the facility from noon to 5 p.m. Bundle that with a pleasant stay at the resort or at Cedar Glade Hotel, and a visit to the annual Dogwood Days Festival the following Saturday and you have a full week of magic in north-central Arkansas!

Horseshoe Bend is celebrating its 50th year as a city, so if you are interested in history, be sure to stop by the Chamber of Commerce to view some of the memorabilia on display there, and perhaps chat with an old-timer or two. You will see that the city has a rich past and a comfortable present which have left it with a beautiful patina that will preserve it's attractiveness to visitors and residents for future generations to come.

With the popularity of this year's events and headliner, vendor spots will fill up fast. Please get your applications in as soon as possible by calling the chamber office at 870-670-5433, on-line by e-mailing your request to dogwooddayshsb@gmail.com, or via our website at www.horseshoebendarcc.com.

                            See you there!
